Infection prevention and control recommendations

by | Oct 19, 2022

Aotearoa New Zealand is seeing a rise in COVID-19, seasonal colds, flu and other respiratory illnesses circulating within our communities and our workplaces.

As well as encouraging staff to wear a mask when indoors and around other people and ensuring staff stay at home when they are sick, proper ventilation is an important tool in any commercial space to stop airborne diseases from staying inside for too long.

Ensuring existing ventilation systems are properly maintained with a regular Building Warrant of Fitness, as well as ensuring an independent qualified person regularly checks a building’s specified systems are important ways to make sure that fresh air is maximised.

The Building Performance team have created a new guidance page with information on how to both maintain and maximise existing systems.
